You’ll Be The Death Of Me

When episode 12 starts Sookie and Bill are not speaking. The killer who is praying on women in Bon Temps has just killed Amy and Jason has confessed to her murder. Tara is staying with a women who claims to be a social worker but is actually and unwelcome acquaintance of Sam’s.

The killer is identified as Rene by a fax that comes into the Sheriff’s office and is buried under paperwork. He killed his sister and moved to Bon Temps to kill any women who associate with vampires. Still not knowing he is the killer, Sookie agrees to accept a ride home from him and once there she begins to hear his thoughts and see what he is thinking. She sees that he killed her grandmother and she runs from the house with him in pursuit. At the bar, Sam also realizes that Rene is the killer and he runs into the woods to try and save Sookie.

While sleeping in the crawl space of his home, Bill hears her cries and decides to go out into the sunlight to try and save her. Rene catches up with Sookie in the graveyard and starts to beat her mercilessly. Sam, in the shape of a dog, jumps at Rene and fights him off. Rene starts to attack Sam as Sookie lay bleeding against a tombstone. Bill makes his way towards them, his flesh burning away with every step. He sees Sookie and thinks she is dead. He collapses on the ground.

Sookie wakes to see Rene beating Sam and she takes a shovel and hits him over the head with it. He falls to the ground but still tries to grab at her so Sookie hits him in the crook of the neck with the shovel…killing him. Sam and Sookie see smoke coming from nearby and realize it is Bill. Sookie turns him over and starts crying as he lays there dying. Sam quickly grabs him and puts him into a freshly dug grave and covers him up.

Sookie returns home after a quick visit to the hospital and Jason comes to her soon after, after being released from jail. He tells Sookie he loves her and that he won’t waste this second chance to make something of his life. Rene’s wife visits Sookie and apologizes for not seeing what Rene was. Sookie tells her that she thinks Bill is dead.

As night falls though the doorbell rings and Sookie opens the door to find Bill. He tells her he fed and is completely healed. She invites him in once again and they kiss passionately. She tells him her life to to short to waste any more time away from him.

The show then skips 2 weeks into the future. Sookie rejoices as marriage between vampires and humans become legal and she looks forward to celebrating this big step for vampire civil rights with Bill later that night. However, as night falls Bill is rejoined in his home by Jessica and she once again becomes his responsibility. Sookie and Tara also discover the body of Lafayette outside the bar and the episode ends with them screaming.

Who killed Lafayette? Was it Bill? How will Sookie take the entrance of a vampire woman into Bill’s life and home? We must wait until summer to find out.
