This episode begins with King Russell dragging Sookie and Bill into the mansion. He has exposed Bill for the lie he has been running and Sookie is now in danger. Bill begs Eric to get her out of the mansion to safety but Eric has just watched Russell fling Bill around like a toothpick and knows he cannot defeat him. Instead he opts to play along and tells Russell that Sookie appears to be valuable and not to let her go anywhere. Sookie of course cannot figure out what is going and plays right into the charade by telling Eric she will never forgive him. Russell orders Lorena to kill Bill and this prompts Sookie to threaten to kill Lorena which is a bad move because as Lorena states.. she would love to rip Sookie open and wear her rib cage as a hat. In a funny move, Eric clamps a hand over Sookie’s mouth to shut her up and he takes her to the library to be interrogated by the King.
Back at Merlotte’s Jesus and Lafayette are playing billiards and Arlene is having a bad night. A customer is rude to her and Jessica accidentally shows her fangs when Arlene cuts her finger. Feeling bad for her, Jessica glamours the customer into leaving a good tip and then she feeds off of her in the bathroom.
Jason and Crystal are having some sexy time in the woods and but Crystal smells something and senses danger so she runs off.
At the mansion Russell demands to know what Sookie is and she is honest as she can be since she doesn’t know herself what she is. Russell shares the file that Bill has been keeping on her but she barely gets to look at it before he loses patience with her.
Jesus and Lafayette makeout in the car but are interrupted by a crew from Hotshot that Lafayette sold V too. A fight ensues and Jesus has to stop Lafayette from beating one of the men to death and then when Lafayette admits he is a drug dealer Jesus is not impressed and asks to be taken home.
Lorena begins to torture Bill and they remember their past together and he blames her again for his lost humanity and turning him into a monster. Lorena professes her love for him as she cuts him open with silver, crying that she has no choice.
Tara is now playing as though she likes Franklin’s attentions. She asks to feed off of him while she is still human, no doubt so that she will have super strength from his blood. In a gory scene she bites him, none to gently, and drinks. When Sookie is locked up in a room nearby Tara uses her mind to talk to her, telling her that they will make their escape when the sun rises.
Eric and Talbot go to visit Queen Sophie Anne. In the car they discuss Sookie, the werewolf pack, and Eric flirts with Russell and tells him his interests lay in men. Russell shares his dream to dominate humans. Once at the Queen’s home Russell asks her to marry him and she denies him once again. Eric attacks her and threatens to rip her head off and throw it in the pool for setting him up with the Magister. Backed into a corner she agrees to marry Russell. Eric takes her and locks her up to be on the safe side.
In the dungeon with Bill and Lorena, Cooter and Debbie walk in to get some V and Lorena allows them to drain Bill.
Sam and Tommy get a visit from their mother. She asks to speak to Tommy alone and she proceeds to guilt him about leaving. She then tells him that Tommy needs to take care of them because she is no longer capable. The insinuation that they have both fought in dog fights to support the family, is obvious. The next morning Arlene complains to Sam that she saw the Mickens putting a pit bull in a truck and Sam figures out what they are doing and runs off to find Tommy.
Tara and Sookie enact their escape. They beat up the werewolf guard and Sookie insists they go find Bill. Sookie finds him in the dungeon where she is attacked by Lorena. Tara runs into Alcide and enlists his help in getting an escape car. The episode ends with Sookie screaming as Lorena bites her.
I give this episode 3 out of 4 ribcage hats.
