Very spoilery! What do we learn? Hmmm.. Bill will drink too much from Sookie to save his own hide and will this will be very hard for both to forget. Eric will use Hadley to find out why the Queen is so interested in Sookie. Does it perhaps have to do with why Bill has a few sunlight scenes? Can Sookie’s fae sun power be transferable somehow? That certainly would be valuable to vampires!

Bill, Lorena, and Russell arrive home from their night out on the town to discover that Franklin Mott and Tara (tied to a chair) are at the King’s mansion. Everyone is interested to find that Tara and Bill know each other but when she asks him to please help her.. he refuses and walks away.

Russell and Franklin retreat to talk in private where Franklin reveals Bill’s “Sookie files” to the King. Russell now knows that Bill has been lying about the nature of his involvement with Sookie and so Russell’s curiosity in the barmaid is piqued. He asks Franklin to go get her but Franklin informs him that Sookie is in Jackson as they speak.

Eric shows up at the mansion to speak with Russell and when they meet Eric explains that he is there to hunt Bill Compton, a vampire who has been selling V. When Bill pops up behind them Eric is surprised but also takes brief delight in the knowledge that Bill has walked away from his relationship with Sookie. Eric asks for Russell’s help with the Magister to save Pam’s life. Russell asks him to stay the night while they work out a plan and Eric agrees.

Jason goes to work at the Sheriff’s office but is bored quickly by desk work. Andy puts him to work washing police cruisers instead. Sam moves his parents and brother into a new apartment. While he is doing that he sees Terri moving in with Arlene.

Sookie spies on Alcide’s thoughts and discovers that he wants to visit his packmaster to tell him what is going on. Sookie asks him what a packmaster is and Alcide is angry that Sookie is listening to his thoughts. But after Sookie convinces him that she can keep a secret, Alcide tells her about how the pack works and he agrees to take her with him when he goes to see him. The packmaster tells them to forget everything they saw and Sookie can tell from reading his thoughts that the packmaster is terrified of Russell and his pack of werewolves.

Lafayette gets a visit from Jesus, the man who cares for his mentally ill mother. He asks Lafayette on date and when Lafayette has to decline because of work, Jesus hangs at the bar for 9 hours waiting for him.

Jason sees Crystal drive through town and he grabs one the cruisers he is washing and pulls her over wearing sunglasses and no shirt. She gets him to admit that he is not yet a cop but she enjoys the attention anyway. Jason asks her to meet him at Merlotte’s that night. Later on she and Jason take a walk in the woods which turns romantic.

Tara escapes the mansion but is dragged back by werewolves. When Franklin discovers the betrayal he breaks down into hysterics, crying and throwing a fit:

You have no idea how much you have hurt me… I feel like I have been staked!”

Seeing how upset he is, Tara begins to play nice and act as though she returns Franklin’s feelings, which automatically makes him easier for Tara to deal with.

Russell confronts Bill with what he has learned from Franklin and shares his theory that someone is tracking the magical gifts in the Stackhouse family for their own particular use but Bill still refuses to tell the truth about Sookie and why he is studying her lineage. Bill is taken up to his room and Cooter arrives later to inform Bill that Sookie is in Jackson with a werewolf. This enrages Bill and he attacks his captors and runs off to find her, failing an elaborate test set up by Russell to see where Bill’s loyalties lay.

Eric tries to talk to Russell again about the Magister but the King blows him off and asks that he humor Talbot by touring the mansion. Eric flirts with the openly gay Talbot as he tours the mansion. They come to a room with trophies and trinkets of conquests and war. Eric finds a crown that belonged to his father and we see Eric remember his past where he was a spoiled prince who only cared about bedding the servants. His father, mother, and baby sister are all brutally attacked by werewolves and their mysterious caped master (Russell). Thus we find out why Eric has searched for them all these years and unbeknownst to Eric, it has been Russell he was after.

Bill arrives at Alcide’s home and tells Sookie that there is no hope for himself but that she must leave Jackson immediately. He has been followed by Cooter and Russell though. They attempt to abduct Sookie but she uses her hand to shock Cooter with the bizarre flow of light and energy from her hand that she used last season on MaryAnne. Russell is not shocked, only delighted by her apparent powers.

I give this episode 3 out of 4 mentally unstable vampires.

Sookie and Alcide have gone back to Alcide’s home after they were attacked at Lou Pine’s were bar. Sookie is bandaging his wound and they chit chat about Alcide’s ex… Debbie Pelt. They are interrupted by a phone call from Bill. Bill tells Sookie that no one is holding him hostage and that he has left his life in Bon Temps and is leaving her. Sookie is disbelieving at first but Bill tells her he has just slept with Lorena and that he and Sookie were doomed from the start. By the end of the phone call Sookie is crying. When Alcide tries to comfort her she still denies that it could really be over and that she must still find him.

After finding Tommy trying to rob his bar, Sam goes outside to find his parents camping out in a van. They tell him they are there because they have no place to go after being evicted.

Back at Sookie’s home, Franklin has glamoured his way in and he makes Tara tell him all about Sookie. When Tara can’t get Sookie to give her the address where she is in Jackson he pins her to a wall and bites her. She spends the next day tied to her toilet while Franklin is sleeping. When he wakes they head to Mississippi.

Bill tells Lorena to leave his room after his phone call with Sookie. He insists that anything that happened between them was him killing his love for Sookie and that he does not love Lorena. He drives this point home by punching her so hard she flies out of his room and hits the wall in hallway. He slams the doors to his room in her face.

Eric has a vivid daydream of Sookie where he finds her at Alcide’s home and they begin to make love. He is pulled out of the dream by Yvetta who is stripping for him. Eric has a look of profound sadness when he realizes that Sookie was just a dream.

Alcide refuses to help Sookie find Bill anymore and so Sookie calls his sister to give her a biker chic makeover so she can get into Lou Pines. Sookie is able to deduce that Debbie is addicted to V and that is why she left Alcide and switched packs. Sookie tells Alcide about this and convinces him to go with her to Lou Pines.

At the King’s home Bill tells Russell that Eric and Sophie Anne are selling V. He gives this information in exchange for a promise from the King that Lorena will be killed.

Sam finds Tommy sleeping in the woods near his bar and they have a heart to heart. Tommy feels that Sam got off easy and he explains to Sam that he feels trapped by his parents. Sam offers to let Tommy stay with him but Tommmy can’t do that because his parents can’t take care of themselves so he is obligated to stay with them and support them or they would be dead in a gutter outside of a week. Sam finds their parents and tells them he will set them up with a place to stay if everyone behaves. They agree.

Lafayette tries to sell V to some werewolves and it ends badly. They start to beat him up and Eric flies in to his rescue, after sensing he was in trouble. He and Lafayette are talking when Pam calls Eric to tell him that the Magister is raiding Fangtasia and she encourages him to stay away. Eric cannot leave Pam in the hands of the Magister though so he goes to her aid anyway. The Magister is torturing Pam when Eric gets there but Eric cannot admit to selling V or betray his Queen without committing a crime so he is in between a rock and hard place. Pam screams out that Bill Compton is responsible and Eric goes along with this, telling the Magister that he is trying to find Bill and bring him to justice. The Magister gives Eric two days to find Bill or he will kill Pam.

Russell, Lorena, and Bill drive up to a stripper bar in a limo and Russell sends Bill to procure an “ethnic” treat for them. Bill goes inside the bar and seduces a stripper into coming outside with him.

Sookie and Alcide go to Lou Pine’s biker bar, where Alcide confronts Debbie, who looks strung out. It becomes obvious that the pack and the V have too strong a hold on her. While they are there, Russell makes a brief appearance to make a speech and give the pack some of his blood. The pack brands Debbie in an engagement ceremony and then Coots gets up on the stage and howls. This causes all the weres in the bar to start shifting, including Alcide. As Alcide starts to change he tells Sookie to RUN!

Sookie turns an runs in a panic and Bill, who is nearby, senses that she is in danger. But by that time Russell is back in the limo and Bill has acquired a girl for them to feed on. He ignores the call to help Sookie and gets in the limo. He, Russell, and Lorena all feed on the young stripper.

I give this episode 4 out of 4 strung out biker chics.

In the opening of the episode Sookie has gotten off a shot at the werewolf in her foyer. Eric leaps in front of the bullet and takes the shot in his chest. The werewolf shifts into human form and attacks Eric to get at the “V”, vampire blood, and Eric tells Sookie not to shoot so they can get information. The were gets away from Eric temporarily and Sookie shoots him in the leg. Eric pounces and starts grilling him but he proclaims that he is dead if he talks and that he would rather Eric kill him. Eric obliges after seeing his Operation Werewolf tattoo and incensed, he bites the were on the neck, killing him.

Eric then buries the were in the Bon Temps graveyard and Sookie wonders why he killed the were so fast. Sookie suspects it had something to do with seeing his tattoo and Eric explains this away by telling her that werewolves who have fed on vampire blood are exceptionally strong and would be difficult even for Eric to handle. Sookie thanks Eric for saving her life and they discuss what Sookie heard in the were’s thoughts. Eric tells Sookie that the were must have lived in Jackson since he said that word and he had a Mississippi accent. Sookie decides she must go to Jackson and asks Eric to come. He cannot go but doesn’t feel she should go alone either. Sookie tells him she will go the next day no matter what.

Meanwhile Lorena has survived Bill’s firebomb and skulks off to lick her wounds. Bill and Russell (the King) retreat to talk some more about the King’s proposal. The conversation turns to Sookie and Russell tells Bill that the surest way to hurt his human companion, is to stay with her. Bill reflects on this with sorrow because he knows it to be true.

Tara and Franklin are shown in a bizarre and confusing sex scene. Tara entreats Franklin to bite her but he opts not to since he would prefer she be unwilling. Tara leaves when Franklin starts to ask personal questions.

Jessica calls Pam to tell her that the body of the man she killed has gone missing. Pam asks her this hilarious question:

Did you call the hypothetical hardware store and buy a theoretical chainsaw?

Pam tells her that the body being gone is an answer to her prayers and goes back to what she was doing before which was something intimate with Yvetta, the Fangtasia dancer.

Arlene goes to see the Doctor and finds out she is pregnant and that she is 9-10 weeks along which likely means that Rene is the father. This news distresses her greatly and when she tells Terri that she is pregnant he assumes it is his and Arlene plays along.

Tara goes to Egg’s funeral and finds out that Sookie paid for it and is in attendance with her. They sit together and comfort each other. Sookie asks Tara to move back into her home and that since she will be going to Jackson, Tara will have the house to herself for awhile.

Bill dreams of his past and the night when he returned home about 3 years after he was turned into a vampire. His son has just died and his wife is overjoyed to see him until she realizes that he is not “right” anymore. When he cries tears of blood she becomes hysterical and Lorena shows up to chide him for putting her through this pain. Lorena lectures him about the fact that vampires who love humans should stay as far away from them as possible to avoid bringing pain and death to their lives. Bills wakes, obviously conflicted about his past love and what it means for his future with Sookie.

Sookie is cleaning the rug in her foyer where the werewolf was killed when she hears the thoughts of a man behind her. Determining that he is a were, she takes off running but he catches her and tells her that Eric Northman sent him to protect her. Thus we get our fist look at Alcide… a hunky werewolf. He and Sookie sit down to refreshments to talk and he explains that he is paying off his father’s debt by helping Eric and that Sookie will never get information from the weres without him.

Sam finds that his parents have followed him back to Bon Temps. He asks them to stay for lunch, which ends badly when his father gets drunk and his brother attempts to steal from him.

Eric apologizes to Lafayette for Pam riding him so hard to sell V and he gifts him a new sports car to show appreciation and to hint that more great things can come from their business relationship.

Back in Mississippi, Bill tells the King that he will join him and leave his life in Louisiana and his service to Queen Sophie Anne behind. After going upstairs to his room Lorena finds him and they engage in rough sex, during which Bill twists Lorena’s head completely around.

I give this episode 3.5 out of 4 hunky werewolves.

This episode opens with a very disgusting and bloody scene as Bill Compton is attacked by werewolves and he kills them one at a time, biting ears off, ala Mike Tyson. The King of Mississippi interrupts before Bill can get to the pack leader, Cooter. Bill expresses his anger that the King has had him abducted but the King nonchalantly requests that Bill join him at his home to discuss the reason for the abduction. Once there Bill is shown to a very nice room with silver doors that will prevent him from escaping.

Sookie and Jessica travel to Fangtasia to see Eric about the Operation Werewolf symbol they found on Bill’s abductor. Eric implores Sookie to be careful and not to go messing with werewolves and risk her life. Sookie begins to cry, which unnerves Eric, and she begs for his help. While this is going on, Jessica is grilling Pam about what one would do with a body if they accidently kill someone. After Sookie and Jessica leave, Eric has a flashback memory of himself and Godric hunting down werwolves in World War II.

Lafayette interrupts Tara before she can swallow enough pills to kill herself. He takes her from her mother’s home and opts to look after her himself. On the drive home he tells her he has something to show her. He takes her to a mental institution to visit his mother and show Tara the kind of thing that runs in their family and what they have working against them if they are not careful.

Sam awakes in his van to see Tommy with a gun in his face. Tommy brings him inside and after a few moments the Mickens realize that Sam is the son they gave up for adoption. They explain why they gave him up and how they hoped he would have good life. He relates that his life was good until his first shift. Later he and Tommy go for a run together but Tommy lures Sam in front of a car and Sam in nearly killed.

Sookie sees a werewolf outside of Merlotte’s when she goes to work. She and Terri chase him into the woods but he disappears. Terri gives Sookie a gun for protection.

Jessica calls a hardware store to rent a chainsaw to take care of the body in her basement that is now beginning to stink badly. When she returns from the store, the body is mysteriously gone.

Bill and the King sit down to a fancy dinner (blood bisque, blood gelato) during which the King tells Bill he wants him to be a Sheriff in his state and that he wants to marry the Queen of Louisiana to broaden his territory. The King feels the Queen could be made to change her mind with Bill’s inside info. The King also states that he knows Bill is still working for Sophie Anne and that his life in Bon Temps might in fact be part of that work. The King also threatens Sookie, which infuriates Bill.

A man breaks into the Compton house and searches through Bill’s belongings to find a “Sookie file” with info and photos about Sookie from the time she was a small child. This revelation, as well as the King’s words, lead us to believe Sookie may have been an assignment rather than a chance meeting.

Eric shows up at Sookie’s house to relate what he wouldn’t tell her before and that the man he was searching for in WWII, who leads this particular wolf pack and feeds them vampire blood, is a vampire. Eric playfully attempts to seduce Sookie into letting him into the house but Sookie is not swayed. She is confused by the sometimes awful and sometimes decent, helpful Eric.

At Merlotte’s, the vampire who broke into Bill’s home is shown to be a new vamp in town, Franklin Mott. He meets Tara in the bar and assists her in beating up some racist rednecks in the parking lot.

Andy and Jason go to a possible drug bust and Jason takes the suspect to the ground.

Lorena makes an entrance at the King’s dinner party which further infuriates Bill. He tosses a lantern at her and her body is engulfed by flames. Bill smiles eerily.

Back at Sookie’s, Eric senses danger inside Sookie’s house and demands to be let in NOW. She invites him in and they find a werewolf in the foyer. The epsiode concludes with Eric poised to attack and Sookie firing a single shot from her gun.

I give this episode 3 out of 4 bloody werewolf ears.

It took awhile for me to review this episode because I was so underwhelmed by it. After months and months of waiting… and yes waiting sucks… I was kind of let down by this episode. After watching episode two, I almost think MOST of the premiere episode could have been cut and added to the second episode instead.

The lone exception to this was the basement scene in which Sookie confronts the naked Viking whilst he is doing the nasty with one of his dancers. Eric doesn’t skip a beat or reach for the robe and decides to converse with Sookie in the nude. The playful banter was welcome and interesting in an otherwise boring episode.

It picks up where the season two finale left off. Sookie realizes Bill is missing from the restaurant and she goes searching for him, convinced it is foul play and silently hoping he didn’t just up and leave after her lack luster reaction to his marriage proposal. She is unable to get law enforcement in Bon Temps to take her seriously so she goes to Eric, initially to accuse him of having something to do with Bill’s fate and then to seek his help.

At Merlotte’s the Sheriff is questioning Arlene and Andy about Egg’s shooting death. Arlene is milking her moment in the spotlight and Tara becomes angry, which spurs a fight between the two. This scene presents us with some winning dialogue:

Arlene: “I’m sorry you fell in love with a serial killer… but really, who here hasn’t?”

Tara is dragged away by Lafayette who grabs a bottle of Tequila for the road.

At the Compton house Jessica is overwrought by the fact that her trucker date is dying. He begs to be taken to the hospital but Jessica explains that she can’t do that. Sookie interrupts so Jessica takes the man and puts him in her resting place under the house. After telling Sookie that she will call her if she hears from Bill she goes back to the trucker to find him dead. After he dies she attempts to revive him with blood but it does not work.

Then we get to see what happened to Bill. He is being held captive by werewolves in their human form, who are draining him for recreational purposes as they drive to some unknown destination. He overpowers them despite his weakened condition and the car is overturned on the side of the road. Bill calls out for Jessica and we see her wake in a panic, unsure of what just happened.

Andy and Jason discuss their plan to keep everyone from finding out it was Jason that killed Eggs. Andy insists that Jason go back to his womanizing ways despite Jason’s insistence that he has changed and doesn’t want to do that anymore.

Andy: “Conscience off, dick on.”

Lafayette takes Tara to Sookie’s house and after Sookie’s visit to Eric she joins them there. Lafayette explains to Sookie that Eggs wigged out after learning all he done under Maryann’e influence (aka killing several people). Tara wonders how in the heck he remembered any of that and Sookie relates that she helped him remember. This does not go over well with Tara who attacks Sookie and accuses her of signing Egg’s death warrant.

Back in the basement of Fangtasia Eric is going off on some sap on the phone (bluetooth) who was supposed to bring Bill to Eric. The caller insists that Bill was gone by the time he got there and Eric demands that he be found or heads will roll the next night. Pam tells Eric he needs to calm down and tell the Queen that Bill is missing. Eric does not want to do that.

From there we are taken to Sam’s hotel room. If you recall from the end of season two, Sam is looking for his birth parents, the Mickens. Bill knocks on his door and Sam wonders how in the world he could find him in Arkansas but since Bill gave Sam his blood last season they are bonded now. Bill asks if he can have Sam’s shirt which Sam removes. Then he asks if he can take a shower and would Sam care to join him??? Sam says that yes he would and they almost kiss when Sam’s phone rings and he is woken from this dream… yes it was only a dream. Sam is very happy to be woken up with news of the Mickens who have a son who works nearby.

Lettie-Mae returns to take care of Tara by bringing Jesus into her life. Tara acts as though she is coping better, only to retreat to the bathroom where she decides to attempt suicide by pills.

Sam finds the man he believes to be Tommy Mickens, even though the man denies it. Sam follows him home after work and looks in the mailbox to see a final notice letter with the Mickens name on it.

Bill, the real one, climbs out of the ground where he slept after the crash. He goes searching for a meal and finds a little old lady living by herself. He feeds on her and then in a rather sweet scene he gives her money and explains that her wayward son brought it over for her.

Back at Fangtasia Eric, is surprised by a visit from the Queen and the Magister who explains that his home is becoming the V capitol of the world. The Magister makes it clear that he is out for blood and this makes Eric understandably uncomfortable since it is he and the Queen who are selling it to pay off the Queen’s debts. After the Magister leaves, Sophie Anne instructs Eric to move all the product and when Eric hesitates she grabs him and grinds a heel into his crotch to show him who is boss.

Back in Bon Temps Jason tries to entertain two young ladies as the old Jason would but he cannot perform and when he tells the young women that he keeps imagining that they have bullet holes in their heads, they pick up and run. At Merlotte’s Arlene figures out that she is pregnant.

Pam goes to see Sookie to pay her for her service in finding Godric last season but has to leave in a hurry when Eric “calls” for her. This makes Sookie wonder if Bill can connect with Jessica in this way so she goes to Jessica to ask. Pam makes a side trip to see Lafayette and tell him to sell off all the V they have NOW.

Sookie and Jessica go for a drive to find the place that Jessica felt when Bill called for her the previous night and they find Bill’s overturned car with a body in it. Upon inspecting the body they see  weird symbol and Jessica uses her smart phone to identify it as a symbol for “Operation Werewolf” which has Nazi origins and thus epsiode one of True Blood season three ends….

I give this episode 2 out of 4 Nazi Werewolves

Looks like Sookie has fans all of sorts.. even Snoop Dogg is not immune to the Southern telepath. Here is a song and video by the artist called “Oh Sookie”. The video was shot, in part, on the True Blood set.
